Do the mi5 officers carry guns ?
MI5 (The Security Service) are an intelligence gathering and surveillance organisation, they use sophisticated methods to infiltrate groups they believe may be a threat to national security and do not have powers of arrest beyond that of the normal citizen. MI5 officers therefore remain largely unarmed. In terms of firearms support MI5 usually work closely with Scotland Yard’s Counter Terrorism Command and local police special branch units who are often armed and who carry out arrests following information and intelligence passed on by MI5. The Security Service (MI5) also have a close working relationship with UK Special Forces.
