Do they tap maple trees in Oz/NZ?

I’ve come to my own non-scientific study that maple syrup is a US (maybe Canada) thing. I’ve traveled a lot on business and found that most of the countries I visited, breakfast didn’t include pancakes, waffles or French toast (your basic maple syrup foods) (only larger hotels had it). It was usually eggs, meat and some type of bread, roll or cereal. I always can’t wait to get home from a trip to get my maple syrup fix. While on trips I tried to ask the locals if it’s even available and I usually failed at trying to explain what it was.
