Do u ever get traffic violations fines?
HI Roxy, I don’t know where you are but I’m in Sydney, NSW (New South Wales) Australia. and our traffic fines are getting out of control…..BUT there have been a few occasions in the last 2 years where the RTA (Roads & Traffic Authority) has had to hand back a lot of money due to 1.Traffic Cameras being found to be faulty, 2Roads not sufficiently signposted with regard to speed limits & 3.No signs warning motorists of a temporary speed limit due to Road Works in the newly opened Lane Cove Tunnel. So sometimes the People DO win over the Govt.
I have seen fines that high and even higher. About 5 years ago I got a ticket and I was so dang mad for getting it, in the first place it was not my fault. It was $350.00 and I did take it to court and won, I only had to pay court cost and I didn’t even think that was right when it was not my fault to start with. Here is what happened: It was a 4 lane road (2 going one way and 2 going the other way) with a turn lane in the center. I was on my way to work one after noon, driving in the far right lane. I saw the police was behind me but wasn’t worried as I was doing the speed limit. Then the police went into the lane to the left and had eased his way up beside me. All of a sudden an emergency vehicle was heading our way in front of us in the other 2 lanes. The cop that was beside me, sped up and went around me, pulled in front of me and stopped.
