We currently use computer lab time as one of our specials with students receiving direct instruction in typing and other computer skills. Classes also schedule additional time in our lab when they are working on projects. All elementary classrooms currently have pods of 3-6 computers that are also regularly used by students. We also regularly team elementary classes with secondary classes for shared projects using the computers. Part of the 1:1 initiative will result in the reallocation of some existing computers to the elementary level. We are confident that students are and will develop typing skills that will enable their success in a 1:1 environment. Question: Is the district prepared to spend money on making the laptops accessible/compatible for kids with physical and mental disabilities?
