Do we really need to throw our used toilet paper in the garbage instead of flushing?

Toilet paper is designed to decompose in septic tanks, so this quote “I’ve done a bit of research and I know that if you have an individual septic tank in your home that it can back up if you use toilet paper” is totally false. I have to admit that this is the very first time I have ever heard of such an insane practice. Should we also ban the manufacture of toilets as well? This is absurd! Toilet paper is SPECIFICALLY designed to be flushed and is one of VERY few products that are! I can think of a whole boatload of problems with simply throwing used toilet paper away. Some of the most nasty bacteria are commonly in human waste such as E. coli bacteria. I would guess that your local health department will have a field day dealing with this landlord as soon as they find out what is in his lease agreements. To that end, let them know IMMEDIATELY and show them a copy. Then sit back and watch the fireworks. It’s almost the 4th anyway, so get the fireworks started early.
