Do whales and birds eat trash; specifically paper products?

You betcha they do. But for the most part paper products will breakdown and not cause the animal any harm. Unless they choke on it while trying to eat it. The trash that is killing lots of seabird is plastic. For some reason lots of gulls and other sea-birds like to eat colored plastic and since it doesn’t break down and is usually too large for them to get rid of it natrually they eventually fill up their stomach with plastic and then starve to death because they can’t get any real food in. Not so sure about whales but I would guess that they probably do ingest a small amount of trash. Sharks and dolphins have been found with wierd trash inside them before so it wouldn’t surprise me to see whales with some sort of floating garbage in them. But again, Paper products will break down in the stomach when eaten. If you felt like it you could eat a small amount of paper and be perfectly fine.
