No, sore nipples are not a side effect of metformin at all. Gastrointestinal side effects may occur (nausea, diarrhea, etc.) Sore nipples are caused due to high level of progesterone harmone during the luteal phase of the cycle (ie just before period is due), or during pregnancy. Metformin has no role in that.
