Do you agree that most humans are Emotional Beings first and Rational Beings second?

Emotion is important, but it is the most primitive, the most survival based system. It responds from an evolutionary standpoint, trying to “protect” us from perceived threats. Unfortunately, that response often isn’t the best for long-term happiness, even if it is useful for short-term pain avoidance. We have to have a strong reign on the emotion with the logical, rational part of the mind, in order to be truly happy and successful. We don’t need to ignore the emotions, or repress them, but we do need to be in control of ourselves despite our emotional responses, and we have to remain logical and rational in the face of our emotions, even if they tell us otherwise. For example, if we get into an argument with someone, our emotions start to go toward fear, anger, aggression, and so on. In a survival situation, it might be necessary to fight an enemy, or run from them, but when you’re arguing with your boss over the wording of a business document, you can’t punch her in the face or run o
