A person goes to hell if he deserves it. If he has broken God’s Moral Law, then he stands guilty before God. If he does not repent in this life, then God is morally and legally obligated to judge him according to his level of disobedience. Sadly, hell has a one-way door, and there has only been one person in all of history who was able to reverse that, because when Jesus died, He died for OUR sins, and was not guilty of any sins of His OWN. By doing so, He conquered death, hell and the grave. In order to escape hell, Jesus said “Follow me” and “I am the Way”. Either we follow Jesus (obey Him, make Him the Lord (boss) of our lives), or we go our OWN way. If we go our OWN way, we end up in hell. If we follow Jesus (did you ever play “follow the leader” as a child?) – if we actually follow and obey Jesus, He will lead us safely into heaven after our body finally quits working (by what EVER cause). I don’t know your friend. I don’t know if he was following Jesus, or following his OWN way;
