Do you feel that after a person falsely accused of rape has the right to sue the accuser?

I would say yes, but I know there are those that say they are “falsely accused,” when they were just acquitted. Not having enough evidence to prove guilt doesn’t necessarily mean the accused is innocent. The shame and guilt placed on a rape victim is enough right now to make many women not report the crime in the first place. The risk of being sued, and made a spectacle in the public eye in the event that the rapist is acquitted would just increase the number of unreported rapes. You’re right, there should be something done about those who deliberately ruin someone else’s life with untrue accusations of rape. I’m just not sure what would be the best way to handle that, without also hurting the real victims of rape. In this case though, there is significant evidence that she was lying. That would be a case of defamation of character, not suing for a false claim.
