You can’t get one totally free that will work permanently, but Microsoft actually has a free fully functional “trial version” of their latest revision of MS Office, which includes MS Word, on their own site, that you can use for 60 days without problems. Go to: www.trymicrosoftoffice.com After the 60 days expire, you will need to either buy it or remove it from your computer, it won’t function after that, though you will still retain any created files that can be later opened on a fully functional version. Another suggestion I have for you is to check out ebay or craigslist listings for earlier versions of MS Word (2003 or 2000). They can be picked up very cheaply and will probably have all the features you need…the differences between them and the 2007 versions are quite minor and unless you’re a super-professional IT person experienced in code and work with large servers, and a few cosmetic details, you won’t notice any difference.
