Do you prefer Stephen Kings novels over his fims. Why?

Over the years, several excellent films have been made from King novels. Carrie, Misery, Shawshank Redemption, the Green Mile spring to mind immediately. However, for other films from his books, the director doesn’t seem to “get” it, or they end up somehow or another filming something other than what King wrote! I know what I am going to get when I pick up one of his novels—even his worst books are reasonably well crafted. Some of those early massive ones (IT springs to mind) could have used tighter editing, maybe, but all in all, a King novel gives full satisfaction. You get what you pay for, and he delivers on the implied contract between the reader and the author. On the other hand, you never know if the movies are going to take you to the same place the book did or not.
