Yes most definitely they are more arrogant. Today’s players are targeted from from an early age and developed in what has become a very elitist system. Elitism breeds arrogance. There is now a strong trend to give the kids with the outstanding potential the very best of everything to the point where it becomes overkill before a kid has even made the grade. What in effect happens is that they are spoilt and become extremely self confident. Bear in mind that today’s recruiters screen very heavily on not just football ability but background,character, family etc. So in effect they are schooled in a number of areas outside football, of which public perception is a strong factor. They look for a character that is a cut above the rest. However team sports party culture will always be a factor in someone falling through the cracks.
