He’s received an adequate sum in compensation – but next target for him and his lawyers should indeed be the press, as the usual sections made his life hell with their presumptions. Of course, in press-speak ‘loner’ to most means ‘oddball’. That was used continuously to get neighbours, and all who are odd themselves harass him over the years. The apology from the police was fairly ‘behind the hand’ and shy, but the press needs to be taught a lesson, yes? Robert…it maybe ‘our’ money, but I for one accepts if some poor bastard catches it merely for his ‘attitude’, and who’s name is spread across tabloids for no reason other than he’s a quiet lad, with a few habits that maybe seen as ‘odd’ to others, then I wouldn’t cry about it – let’s face it, we pay for the police to do their job – and if they overstep the mark, we also should pay the sods who suffered.
