On a personal spiritual level, no I don’t think so. Irrational fear or phobia is caused mainly by a traumatic experience which caused a drastic change in behavior. Usually because of that incident, panic attacks occur to the person because of the fear. Phobias can be explained by Classical and Operant Conditioning. When a stimulus is presented it elicits a response. In the famous experiment about Little Albert by Watson and also the experiment of Ivan Pavlov – it was found out the fear is something that is learned and not innate. They were able to develop/create fear out of a boy by pairing a white rat with a loud noise. The boy later on learned and generalized his fear on all white and furry objects because of continued conditioning. This is also true with regards phobia. When a person is exposed to a traumatic incident or has witness a traumatic incident then he/she may develop irrational fear as a result of it.
