Do you think peadophiles are clinically insane or normal?
I don’t think that people that have been abused will always go on to be abusers and surely it depends on your definition of insane, I know what people are saying, that can an insane person be calculating but on the other hand, does a sane person thinks it’s ok to have sex with children. It’s similar to serial killers, they are cleverer enough to avoid capture sometimes for years but normal sane people don’t think it’s ok to kill a person and chop them up into small pieces. Either way, I believe that paedophiles can never be cured, call it insanity or an imbalance, they should never be freed if convicted, have you ever heard of a paedophile that hasn’t re-offended, if they’ve done it twice, why oh why are they let out to do it again at the moment? So wrong!
The term “insanity” is a legal construct in which a person is held to have diminished responsibility for his or her actions because of a mental disorder. I’m not aware of any jurisdiction in which pedophiles have been treated this way by the legal system. Pedophies have diagnosable mental disorders because a category for pedophilia exists in the Diagnostic and Statistics Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the diagnostic “bible” for mental health professionals in North America, or the International Classification of Diseases, the diagnostic tool commonly used in Europe. Note that this is a tautology; the disorder exists because somewhere there is a diagnostic category for it. But you’re asking whether there is something mentally wrong with pedophiles, or at least that’s how I’m taking your question, and I would have to say that there is.
