Do you think people ask too many Yes/No questions on Askville?
I’ll resist the temptation to give a monosyllabic answer, hard though it is. There are three actual reasons for my opinion: • I haven’t personally seen enormous numbers of such questions. • There do exist questions with a yes or no answer which it’s extremely difficult to find the answer to unless you happen to have an expert on the subject at hand. • Most “Yes/No questions” don’t really seek a “Yes/No answer”. They usually require supporting background information to justify or explain the answer and are often opinion based. It’s often this part of the answer which is most interesting to the community at large and the question asker in general. Although perhaps this answer is evidence that this isn’t necessarily the case….
