The tectonic plates move about 12 cm per year. The north polar ice cap is floating on top of the tectonic plates. Antarctica is actually part of a tectonic plate. The reason the tectonic plates don’t slide over each other faster is because it takes a lot of effort to actually cause subduction. That is, A LOT of energy is required to push the plate down, and then on top of that the plate still goes 12cm per year and it has to get hundreds of feet down before it liquifies to become part of the new crust. Your theory is flawed. According to the lunar collision theory, a hunk of radioactive material slammed into the earth before life began, and part of the earth came off but didn’t get too far away – resulting in the moon. The radioactive material heated up the iron in the hunk of earth and the denser elements gravitated toward the center of the mass while the lighter ones came out to the surface.
