The government should not be allowed to withhold information of any sort. They keep forgetting that they work for us, not the other way around. They only reason to keep that kind of information inaccessible is to hide the crappy job that they are doing.

I don’t think anyone knows enough yet about what this information was. If it was about the handling of individual ongoing cases I don’t see that the public feels it has a ‘right’ to this information, anymore than if any legal process they were going through was put out there in the public domain.

No, governments should not withhold information from the electorate, unless there are security implications. But that’s not what this news story says.
