Do zombies, vampires, etc. exist in real life or is it just movies?
The kinds of legendary creatures portrayed in movies do not exist as they are portrayed in movies. For some of them, though, there are similar things that the legends may be based upon, though it’s hard to figure out what’s true. The idea of zombies and vampires comes partly from a fear of the dead coming back to feed upon the living. This fear goes back to ancient times and is reflected in stories about evil ghosts, vampires and zombies. The word zombie comes from Haitian voodoo belief that a sorcerer could kill a person and bring them back to life. In truth, these sorcerers would sometimes poison people with a drug that made them appear to be dead. The person would then be buried and later dug up by the sorcerer. In their drugged state, the person wouldn’t need as much oxygen, but they often suffered some brain damage and psychological distress.
