Does a 5 mega pixel camera shoot properly in dark?

I’ve got a Sony DSC-W80, which is a small pocket-sized digital camera, and it has what they call a ‘high ISO’ setting. What it does is it automatically changes the speed setting according the amount of light it detects. You can take good pics in surprisingly dim places. It only gets grainy on like the last two ISO settings, and the room has to be pretty dim to hit those. It also has a moonlight portrait setting, which uses a flash, but takes the most natural shots you can imagine, without over brightening the subject and making the background turn black like a normal flash does. I actually bought two cameras at a time to compare them side by side in person after being so frustrated by all the review sites. This was the fourth camera I tried and it was the best of all with fully 95% of all the shots being usable, in focus, good colors, and exposed properly in all light conditions.
