Does a 501c3 ever expire?

I attained 501c3 status over twelve years ago. However, since then, the organization has been dormant and I have had no need to annualy file anything with the government.

Does this mean that my non-profit status is no longer valid?

Thank you!

There are requirements that must be followed. If you have performed the proper filings and are current with taxes you may be in compliance. In California you can go to the California Business Portal online and check your status. The site also has extensive information that explains everything you need to know about your 501(c)3. The entity does not expire, your status can, by not filing reports properly in a timely manner and paying taxes and  renewal fees.

Thanks for your feedback!
