No. You will need a passport to enter any EU country outside of the UK border but once you are across the English Channel (or leave Berlin airport) you can freely go anywhere. If you fly by Ryanir or Easyjet they will take you to Shoenefelde airport, which is very much in the East. There is an excellent train service from there into the city centre. The old border of East Berlin is almost indistinguishable these days unless you know what to look for. In a couple of places a length of Wall still exists in its original location (e.g. the East Side Gallery). There is the Checkpoint Charlie museum which is about 50 metres from the actual border but it is very difficult to identify the actual ‘line’. (It’s a rotated kerbstone but you have to know to look for it). Some other places have the foundations of the Wall still in existence but a lot of that is covered by bushes and boskage.
