Does a Gum Graft have to be done by a Periodontist?
I would go to the periodontist. They are specialists who do these types of procedures daily. A general dentist can clean your teeth, but a hygienist does it daily and has had more specific training. You wouldn’t go to your general doctor for knee surgery even if they have done it before, you see a specialist who has had training and does the procedure daily. I am sure that there is another periodontist who can see you sooner; a one year wait is not acceptable! Perhaps it is because you live in a small area and there are not a lot of periodontists. Here’s another wayn to think of it, if you own a BMW700series, do you take it to your local mom and pop mechanic who know the basics of fixing cars, or do you go to the BMW dealership who specializes in your specific type of car?
