acetylene gas is a by-product of the decomposition of carbide in water it may cause aluminum to oxidize a little faster,or have no reaction. using acetylene and oxygen to melt aluminum,will cause the aluminum to decompose.

Yes it reacts because Al is a lewis acid and it accepts a pair of electrons and c2h2 has 3 bonds from which it can donate one for aluminium and forms a cyclic compound
