How much money are you willing to spend? Remember the larger parrots cost more, the cages cost more, and the toys cost more. However, they live a long time. But African Grey parrots are the best talkers but they do not have bright colors. My favorite is an Umbrella Cockatoo because they have great personalities and are cute. To determine which parrot is right for you please go to the library and read about the different kinds of parrots before you purchase one. Remember that the larger parrots require more of your time bonding and time outside the cage to fly and play. You will need to get a play stand for him/her. Although, I would advise you to get a male over a female because males are better at mimicing and they are more friendly. At least that has been my personal experience. But you can find a female parrot that is very loveable. If this bird will be your very first bird that you have ever owned then I suggest that you get a smaller parrot. Quakers can mimic and are a good parrot
