You have to know the golf course where you want to caddy. That is what the golfer wants … local knowledge, not just a bag carrier. Step 1: get a book to make notes on each hole. Go to Google earth and print off each hole to fit onto the page for that hole. Mark distances from the front of the Tee area to the start of the green, then find out where the flag/hole is that day. Also know distances to sand bunkers and water hazards. There are markers on the fairway, but get 2 or more landmarks for each hole. Walk around the golf course and get familiar with it. Check with the office before you walk in front of golfers. Step 2: How long is your walking step? 30 inches? so every 50 steps is 40 yards … 100 steps = 80 yards / 200 steps = 160 yards / 250 steps = 200 yards Step 3: Work on your fitness: The golfer has to keep positive and think of his game.
