Does anyone have a recipe for a Twelfth Night cake?
TWELFTH NIGHT CAKE The twelve days of Christmas is climaxed by Epiphany on January 6. In England, Twelfth day is not complete without the twelfth cake, a dark fruitcake hiding a trinket, pea or almond. The guests or family member who finds the “prize” reigns as king or queen over the twelfth Night festivities. 2 1/2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour 1 tsp. soda 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 3/4 c. butter 1 3/4 c. sugar 3/4 c. Florida orange juice 1/2 c. milk 2 eggs 1 tbsp. orange rind 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. chopped black walnuts 1/2 c. raisins 1/4 c. currants 1 c. blanched almonds Sift flour, soda, salt, cinnamon together. Cream butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar. Add 1/2 cup orange juice, milk, eggs, orange rind and vanilla. Add flour mixture gradually beating until well mixed. Fold in walnuts, raisins, currants and almonds.
