Does anyone have any pointers for NYU admission?
Yay, a prospective NYU student! I just applied this past year and I’ll be attending it this year, so I’ll give you a couple pointers. The NYU application is due in about January and you can pretty much write whatever you want in your essay, which is really helpful. NYU is really known for emphasizing originality in their essays. Like, REALLY. They don’t want those really cookie-cutter essays or basic sob stories. They’re really into the quirky, really weird people whose personalities really show through. I know people who wrote about their favorite number, or about a superpower that they wished they could have, and they’ve gotten in. I personally wrote about how much I hated the process of college applications and I told them how idiotic I thought it was, and I still got in, which I think was cause it stood out from its originality. So really, try to be as random as you can and let your personality shine through. Still make it a very well-written quality essay though, with good diction
