Garlic. Place garlic cloves in niches around your house. The smell will keep them away from your house. Since you’re neighbor feeds them, they like to spread around and stretch their wings. They also look for welcome places to perch. By placing garlic cloves in area’s around your house, the birds will not look for comfort at your house, and hopefully won’t poop so much. I’ve found that garlic cloves last 2-3 years before I need to replace them; but the birds are conditioned not to hang out in certain area’s of my house. They used to love the front porch light ‘cas of the heat and safty. Well, garlic keeps vampires and unwanted birds from the home! hee-Hee-HEE.

Convince your neighbor that it might not be a terrific idea to “feed the birds” until the bird flu scare is over (although I don’t beleive all birds are equally involved). If that don’t work try to google “scare bird” and check out the many available products. The link is just one good example. Good luck.

I like the fake owl idea. I have also seen black silhouettes of birds of prey that people can put on doors, windows, etc. to scare birds away.

Throw bird seed all over the neighbor’s yard so the birds stay over there.

Least extreme: Put window clings in your windows so they don’t try to fly in and break your glass. Extreme: Put a fake cat in the window sill where birds fly the most or are most likely to hit the window. Or, if you must, buy a real one. (Fake owls should work too) Most extreme: Move trees and shrubbery away from your house.
