Does anyone know an organisation where i can get a healthy guinea pig?
Some areas are actually very difficult to find guinea pigs, mine included. I have checked craigslist just about daily even though I already have all the gp’s I want, and I’ve only seen gp’s listed 3 times in that last two months. All the area shelters and pet societies have not had a single one since I started looking right after X-Mas, and there are no rescues in my area. Pet stores are about the only option for us if we don’t want to wait months and even then a 2-3 week wait is common because the pets stores don’t get many and they sell quickly. All 5 of my gp’s have come from either Petco or PetSmart and all have been healthy. Now since I’ve gotten mine I have seen some there that don’t look totally healthy, so it helps to know what symptoms to look for. The crusty nose/ eyes or labored breathing are the big ones to look for.
