I’m away from my shelf full of poetry books and anthologies at the moment, otherwise I would have all sorts of great modern poets to recommend to you. As it is, I must rely on my memory and the internet to aid me, and I’ve managed to find this one by Fleur Adcock: a very wonderful modern poet, who writes plain-spoken and witty poems about all sorts of things. KISSING The young are walking on the riverbank, arms around each other’s waists and shoulders, pretending to be looking at the waterlilies and what might be a nest of some kind, over there, which two who are clamped together mouth to mouth have forgotten about.
