Does anyone know anything about artificial grass for play areas?

I doubt all artificial grass is the same, but the grass we purchased last year for our backyard has been excellent. It stays green year round (no matter how much abuse it takes) you don’t need to water it or mow it, and the maintenance is minimal to zero (if you need to fluff it up again you can just rake it – but we haven’t even had to do that yet). It’s just as soft (if not more so) than real grass, and after the rain you can go out and walk on it and not worry about muddy feet! I would not recommend using artificial grass up against any real grass though. This is because you will be able to tell the difference in appearance if they are beside one another and it may look awkward. Plus, keep in mind you will be paying a bit more of a premium for artificial grass over real (though it does pay for itself in the real long term). If you have an area surrounded by concrete, bark, pavers or other non-grass material, and you’re willing to pay the extra for it right now, I’d say go for it!
