Does anyone know of a free registry cleaner and fixer?

CCleaner is free and will clean your registry and PC, not much can fix it for you though i’m afraid. Fixing your registry will be harder as some files may need replacing if corrupt or damaged, you may be able to use your system restore to fix this, but often that does not work. I have found it can be easier sometimes to format your HD and do a clean reinstallation of operating system etc if things have got that bad.

I used to use CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com) which is free. However, it doesn’t have any sort of backup facility which meant that one day, it deleted the wrong registry file and made my computer unable to boot up. I took it to the computer repair store and they wanted $150 to fix it I now use a cleaner called “RegAce” because it’s easy to use and has a complete backup system which even makes a restore point on your computer. You can read about it here: http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/regace_review.

Eusing Free Registry Cleaner is very good. I’ve used it for years. It will give you an opportunity to give a donation when you start the program but you can just click “Skip” and continue using it for free. Get it at http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_clea… Proper cleaning of your Windows registry with a program that fixes registry issues will speed your computer. Do not listen to guy who says it is harmful.

Free registry cleaner that I really like is CCleaner http://www.piriform.com/ and Easy Cleaner. http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/files/EClea2_0.exe They are both totally free. But I do like CCleaner more though as it offers more features and gives more solid design. And yes you are right, don’t trust any registry cleaner that says it free while actually it only offers you free scanning. Lots of this kind of product are scare-ware. They will inform that you got so many errors that it will have problems soon if you don’t fix it with their product of course. One of the nastiest yet popular misleading software is Perfect Optimizer. There is a good article about it here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/17699592/Perfect-Optimizer-Review And what ironic is that this software is the clone of FixTool which is listed as a misleading application in Symantec online threat list database. Oh man very nasty.
