Does anyone know the reproduction type of Laminaria japonica?
L. japonica is a brown alga, which means it reproduces via flagellate spores. These are mobile spores which move via their flagella. The spore is haploid and develops into the gametophyte. This is a mode of sexual reproduction since approximately equal numbers of male and female spores are derived from meiosis.
