You can go to petfinder.com to find shelters and rescue groups that you can adopt from in your area. I do not recommend giving a pet as a surprise gift, though. Please make sure that you check with the girl’s parents first to be sure they are on board with the idea of having a kitten. If the parents are agreeable, take her with you to the shelter to pick out a kitten… she’ll love it. Whatever you do, please do not let it be a surprise gift.
