Does anyone know where The Hobbit (2010) movie will be filmed?
I believe both Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh will be executive producers on the movie (which could possibly be two movies, the second one being a prequel). It seems more than likely filming will take place in NZ, as a lot of what we have seen of Middle-earth in the first three LOTR movies are actual places in New Zealand. After he wraps Hellboy: The Golden Army, this will most likely be his next movie. Alternatively, he may choose first to direct ‘3993’, a movie which, along with ‘The Devil’s Backbone’ and ‘El Labarinto del Fauno’ completes his Spanish Civil War trilogy. He would probably have pressure from the studio to do The Hobbit first, but GDT has been known to withstand this type of situation in the past (He turned down directing the Halo movie becuase Universal and 20 Century Fox weren’t willing to let him direct Hellboy 2 first.) It should also be noted that on March 18, 2008, GDT told TheOneRing.net that he had not yet signed on to direct The Hobbit.
