Does anyone make a “butter” from walnuts, almonds, pecans, cashews or any other nut?
– Bob, Lakewood If you plug “walnut butter,” “almond butter,” “pecan butter” or many other nut butters into an Internet search engine, you’ll find several options. The Web site www.futtersnutbutters.com also offers macadamia nut butter and Brazil nut butter, and cashew butter can be found in many grocery stores. Peanut butter is far and away the most common, mainly because peanuts are cheap. Additionally, some nuts, such as walnuts, have short shelf lives after processing because of their fat content and become rancid quickly if not refrigerated, said Amy Myrdal, marketing director of the California Walnut Commission.
