Does anyone out there use a steam oven at home ?

I’ve only used steam with a commercial oven, but I can give you some pros and cons. Pro: slightly better crust on some baked items (ie rustic breads) but I get the same results at home with a conventional oven and spray bottle. Pro: although I haven’t used it to reheat foods, I assume that a steam oven would be superior. Con: there isn’t as much steam as you would think. The oven sprays a stream of water at the side of the HOT oven creating steam. Therefore, if you’re not using a very hot oven there won’t be much steam. And if you keep spraying, you’ll just cool off the oven wall and it will stop steaming anyway. (If the model that you’re looking at sprays in more than one place that might alleviate this problem) Con: Glass light bulb covers. When they get hot, they will shatter when sprayed. That’s what happened to mine, but if your oven is well-designed then the water will be sprayed AWAY from any glass. Con: You may have to plumb a water line to install your oven and that will cost
