Does anyone still use fuel additives like “Jetex”?

I presume you mean Redex, Jetex was a fuse used for solid fuel model aeroplane engines, but yes additives are still used comprehensively for different applications. Although modern motor fuels have many other components included in them it does no harm to use additional one occasionally. Redex is an upper cylinder lubricant which also helps to remove carbon build up on the piston heads and around valves. Others such as injector cleaners do have an effect particularly on older engines and performance enhancers may work but are not all they are cracked up to be. There are also oil additives but be careful with these if your engine is designed to run on some of the more modern and specialist oil formulae. If you are running an old car set up for leaded petrol the a lead substitute additive is essential when filling with unleaded petrol. Generally it is a matter of taste, the petrol companies will tell you it is not necessary to add anything to their products but if you want to try supplem
