In your position and with the way the job market is I would say do not use the internet to apply for jobs, only to research them. Applying to a job online means employers have only your cover letter and your CV to judge you on. The way the job market is at the moment most positions will be receiving tens if not hundreds (or even thousands) of applications, even the sort of Saturday jobs that usually a school leaver or a student would encompass, and I don’t mean to be offensive but if all you have to offer are some low grade GCSEs and limited or no work experience then employers will not give you a second thought. Look online and in your local paper or go to your local job centre and look for things like retail or office jobs (I do see some that say “this job would suit a school leaver…” and similar things so there is hope) that you like the sound of, then find their phone number and / or address and phone them up or, better still, visit them.
