The NetEqualizer seems to work fine if you use an IP on Vlan1. Otherwise you may need to follow the instructions below. We have customers using one smart switch and doing port routing like you are suggesting in scenario A. It shouldn’t matter if it is a VLAN or not. Our unit acts as a transparent bridge. You may have an issue in getting to the web GUI on the NetEqualizer if it is only available via a VLAN but traffic passing “through” the NetEqualizer doesn’t care if it is on a VLAN or not or even if it has a legit IP setup on the NetEqualizer since the IP for the NetEqualizer is for management only. There is a way to set up the management IP on the NetEqualizer so it is available from some other VLAN’d machine.
