Does Body Mass Index (BMI) Measure Body Fat?

0

No. BMI does not take into account body fat or body fat percentage. BMI only measures total weight in relation to height. So a very muscular athlete will have a high (possibly unhealthy) BMI even though he/she may be in perfect health. But for most people BMI is a very convenient and reasonably accurate measurement of whether we are (a) Underweight; (b) Normal Weight; (c) Overweight; or (d) Obese.
