Does Breast Ultrasound Cause any harm?

0

An ultrasound is a very simple test. They just run a special wand around your breast, using a special gel to help the wand make a good contact with the skin so that they can get the best results. The wand just emits high frequency sound waves that go through the tissue in yor breast, and are bounce back off various tissues in there. If there’s anything to see, they will pick it up on the screen. It’s a great way to take a look inside the body without using harmful x-rays, or putting you through a CT or MRI scan. As tests go, it’s completely harmless. It’s used during pregnancy to monitor the unborn baby, but it can be used to look at other internal organs too that x-rays won’t show up. At worst, the only pain you’ll feel is if they have to press down hard on the wand, but seeing that the breast tissue is all close to the skin, they might not even have to do that.
