No. Cefuroxime is a beta-lactam antibiotic. Beta-lactam antibiotics are not suitable drugs for the treatment of chlamydia. While they have the ability to halt growth of the organism, these antibiotics do not eliminate the bacteria. Once treatment is stopped, the bacteria will begin to grow once more. There are several different antibiotics that can be used to treat and cure chlamydia though. They can include: Zithromax (azithromycin) Amoxil (amoxicillin) Doryx (doxycycline) Erythrocin (erythromycin) E.E.S. 400 (erythromycin ethylsuccinate) Floxin (ofloxacin) Levaquin (levofloxacin) See your doctor if you think you have chlamydia. It can cause serious reproductive problems and other health issues if it's not treated. Good luck!  more
