Does chicken rice, chilli crab, “nasi lemak” and “laksa” belong to Malaysia?
First things first, we all know that Singapore was part of Malaysia before, and geographically the two countries belong to the same region,or more like they’re really close to each other, so definitely, food from these two countries would be greatly similar, no one has the right to say that the dishes mentioned are malaysian or singaporean, but dishes evolve not just from time but also from culture influence, availability of ingredients etc, so there might be slight differences of these dishes or versions from different regions, therefore, a single variation of a dish could be called original and thus one can say it’s singaporean or malaysian or whichever province they created a variation of a dish, today, people may associate some dishes as singaporean because it is somewhat acting as an ambassador for the food on this region, nevertheless, with so much influence of different cultures and so many different factors which affect the recipe of a certain dish, you couldnt say its original
