All birth control pills can make you feel this way. The birth control pill changes the levels of hormones in your body (thereby preventing ovulation – which prevents pregnancy). And these hormonal changes mimic what your body would feel if you are pregnant. Fortunately, these side effects of the pill usually go away after the first three months. Now, you wouldn’t feel this bad for the whole three months, it generally decreases dramatically after the first couple of weeks and then you go back to normal after the first three months. Having said that, all birth control pills don’t make all women feel the same. Some will produce side effects that affect you more than others. So if the side effects are something you just can’t put up with for the short term, see your doctor and ask if she can’t switch you to another pill. There are lots on the market and she should be able to find one that will work for you.
