Does collecting personal demographic information violate Washingtons Initiative-200 (I-200) or Washington States non-discrimination law?

0

I-200 was a citizen initiative approved by Washington voters in 1998, which directed the Legislature to revise the states non-discrimination law to prohibit the giving of hiring preferences on the basis of race, color, national origin and sex. WSU does not use hiring preferences and does not violate the states non-discrimination statute. State law still requires state agencies to collect and report employee and job candidate demographic data, as does federal law.
