Does cord blood contain embryonic stem cells?
No. Both ethically and legally speaking, embryonic stem cells have long been a hot button issue. Because cord blood requires a live child birth, by definition, they cannot contain embryonic stem cells which are harvested from aborted fetuses and donated embryos. Cord blood banking and placenta blood banking is 100% legal, and has rarely, if ever, run into the same ethical and religious road blocks associated with embryonic stem cell research.
