I don’t know the whole theory but of what I do know I think it does apply to plants

Sure…evolution = change in response to changing conditions…flowering plants (angiosperms) were a much later in the order of plants then simpler ones, like gymnosperms, like conifers (not just the evergreen trees, but various tropical cone-bearing trees that were abundant when much of the landmass was massed and tropical). I once did an art piece for a class: “life=change”, inspired by my first big break-up, but then tried to universalize and broaden it by incorporating theories of evolution, (‘man’s ascent’ type of pics) and technology (artificial hearts vs. neolithic slavic homes made entirely of mastadon tusks) and eventually decomposition (roadkill).
